How to export your LinkedIn connections, with their profile links

No CRM, or no LinkedIn column in your CRM’s export? Every LinkedIn member can download their connections as a CSV file, with each person’s profile link. Here’s how.

Who to put in the list

Your connections include candidates, colleagues and friends as well as clients. When you upload the file, you choose whom to follow: for a recruitment agency, the hiring managers and clients; for a sales team, the buyers and champions.

Only the people you choose are saved.

Download your connections, step by step

  1. On LinkedIn, open Me → Settings & Privacy → Data privacy → Get a copy of your data.
  2. Choose the data you want, tick Connections, and click Request archive. LinkedIn may ask for your password.
  3. LinkedIn emails you a download link, usually within minutes. Download the file and, if it’s a .zip, open it: you need Connections.csv.
  4. Upload Connections.csv as it is. If it has more people than your plan has room for, you choose whom to track, for example your clients and hiring managers rather than candidates.

LinkedIn puts a few lines of notes above the column names. Leave them in: they’re skipped.

Menu names can differ slightly between LinkedIn’s website and app, and between languages.

Where’s the LinkedIn link?

Every row already has the person’s profile link, in the URL column. Most emails are blank: LinkedIn only includes the ones your connections chose to share.

Check the file before you use it

  • One row per person, with the column names in the first row (title rows above them are fine).
  • A LinkedIn profile link for everyone you want to follow; name, company, job title and email help but aren’t required.
  • CSV, TSV or Excel (.xlsx or .xls), up to 10 MB and 20,000 rows.
